ConnectUp Walkout
Dear Guest,
Thank you for participating in a ConnectUp session, we are honored to minister to you!
Following your ministry session, we provide guests with the following list of “Best Practices” after receiving a ConnectUp session. These practices will help you to not only maintain the healing and freedom you received in your session, but also to reach greater levels of maturity in Christ. Implementing these practices in your life is a way to thank God for His work in your life, and to invest in your relationship with Him.
Many blessings over you, and your connection with Him!
Sincerely,
The ConnectUp Team
Post Ministry Instructions
1. Have a Daily Appointment with God
The foundation of any healthy Christian’s life is their relationship with God. And just like any friendship, it takes an investment of time and energy grow our connection with God. We recommend setting aside a daily appointment designed to develop an intimate relationship with God. This normally includes spending time with Him in prayer and in reading the Bible.
Action Steps:
Schedule and Keep Your Daily Appointment with God. Write down the start time, end time, location, and planned activities for your appointment. You can be creative in the ways you spend time with God, but one example is, “I will meet with God every morning from 8:00am to 8:30am at my desk where I will pray for 15 minutes and read through the New Testament for 15 minutes.”
2. Renew Your Mind by Building Godly Strongholds
The Word says that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:3). This happens not only by destroying ungodly strongholds in ConnectUp sessions, but a deeper transformation will happen by actively building up Godly strongholds with the truths that God gave you in your session. We have found that renewing your mind after your ministry session is an important aspect of walking in freedom.
Action Steps:
For 30 days, meditate daily on the truth that God gave you during your session.
Strengthen the meditation by identifying one Scripture for each major breakthrough you experienced. One way to meditate is to start your day by speaking a truth over your heart ten times, out loud. Then, declare it over yourself at lunch and dinner.
After 30 days, develop a Personal Identity Statement that you meditate on every day.
This statement can be 5-10 sentences. Develop it using your Biblical identity in Christ, the truths He has spoken to you, and your unique calling and purpose. This can be part of your Daily Appointment with God.
You can also renew your mind by meditating on verses from the Bible that we have consolidated in this Identity in Christ sheet.
3. Connect with Others through Life-Giving Relationships
Surround yourself with people who love God and who will propel you towards Him. You need connection, accountability, and support as you walk out your freedom (James 5:16). Join a supportive fellowship with others whom you allow to speak into your life. You need people that you can share your struggles and victories with. We recommend that men and women develop accountability with someone of the same gender.
Action Steps:
Join a Christian fellowship where you are known and you allow others to speak into your life. The vulnerability of being in relationships can be scary, but being connected to the Body of Christ is an essential part of growing up in God.
4. Minister to Yourself (As Needed)
If you become frustrated or confused, begin a conversation with God using the same questions you were asking during your session and listen for His answers. Write down the ongoing truths and exchanges that God gives you and implement them into your daily meditations.
Action Steps:
Use the following examples to connect with God and receive ministry directly from Him:
Father God, is there a lie that I am believing about You?
Father God, what is the truth?
Is there anyone I need to forgive?
I choose to forgive _____ for ______and I release them from harm.
I choose to break any agreement with ________ and I give it to You, Jesus. What do you give me in exchange?
5. Exercise Authority
There is a difference between bondage and temptation. When you are in bondage, it is very difficult to control your thoughts, feelings, and responses to related issues. When you experience freedom from bondage, you regain authority over that area of your life. This restored authority enables you to take control and resist temptation in a way that you were not able to previously.
Sometimes people get discouraged if they re-encounter an area in which they experienced freedom during ministry. What they don’t realize, however, is that it may not be a re-presentation of bondage, but rather a temptation that they can now take authority over and resist with a new-found strength (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Action Steps:
Exercise your authority in Christ: If you re-encounter an area in which you already experienced freedom, be encouraged; it is probably temptation. Take authority over it in the name of Jesus, and watch the new found strength you have in God to resist it (Luke 10:19)!
6.Focus on What He Has Done and Don’t Give Up!
We believe that it is God’s will for you to be whole and healed. God is committed to you and He can be trusted with your full healing process (Romans 8:32). Sometimes people feel disappointed about what did or did not come up during their session. We have found, however, that often times what God chooses to deal with is specific and purposeful for a person’s freedom.
Action Steps:
Ask the Lord to show you the wisdom in what He chose to do during your session.
Encourage yourself in the Lord by choosing to focus on what He has done in your life, and how you can respond to it (Philippians 4:8-9). This is an act of stewarding well what God has given you so far. It will prepare you to receive what He has for your next.
7. Testify
Here at ConnectUp, we would love to hear from you about what God did through your ministry session, please let us know by filling out the testimony form at www.iconnectup.net/testimony. We celebrate the testimonies of God bringing healing,
freedom, breakthrough, and greater connection with Him! We encourage you to give God glory by giving voice to what He has done in your life.
Action Steps:
Fill out a Testimony form of what God’s done for you at www.iconnectup.net/testimony.
Give God glory by telling others what He’s done for you and worshipping Him.
8. Walk Out for Healing from Self-Protection (As Needed)
Sometimes in ConnectUp sessions, God heals us of our “shields” of self-protection that were used to keep us safe. While they may’ve been a needed tool in the past, finding protection in our relationship with God is superior. When we surrender self-protectors
to God, we are choosing to face reality without them, and to learn new ways of engaging our life and getting our needs met through relationship with God and healthy tools we receive from Him.
After surrendering self-protectors, it is not unusual to have an adjustment period and even emotional discomfort while learning how to engage life without their protection. For example, it is not unusual to have a new self-awareness of internal silence, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling unprepared even in familiar situations. If you are walking out a healing from self-protection, we recommend the following steps:
Action Steps:
Have grace for yourself and the people around you. Especially in the first 3 days after your ministry session. Take it easy, get some rest, and connect with God.
Apply yourself to mature and learn new, healthy tools. This can look like reading books, taking classes, and doing what you couldn’t previously do. Two helpful books in this area are Boundaries by authors Cloud & Townsend and Keep Your Love On by Danny Silk.
