Special Projects Team
Below are current opportunities to give to ConnectUp Special Projects that will enable specific ministry and mission-oriented initiatives to take flight. These items reflect active financial needs and/or areas of faith for provision in the ministry. Last updated May 20, 2026.
The Joshua Project
The project includes conducting a ConnectUp Training Outreach in Rzeszow, Poland planned for October 2026. The outreach includes hosting a Level 1 and Level 2 ConnectUp Training for Ukrainian refugees in healing prayer ministry.
The ConnectUp outreach team will train, mentor, and potentially lay the ground work for a future Branch of ConnectUp ministry to be established in this strategic location on the border of Poland and Ukraine. This project also includes the printing of 100 ConnectUp Manuals in Ukrainian through a Poland-based printer.
The Joshua Project was named in honor of Joshua Thomas Wheatley (8/26/1995 - 9/19/2023). More information on Josh’s life and legacy is below.

The Joshua Project’s Namesake
Joshua Thomas Wheatley (“Josh”) was born on August 26, 1995, at Ft. Benning, Georgia. The oldest of three boys, Josh grew up in a military family as the son of Army chaplain Tom Wheatley and his wife, Nancy. Life as an “Army brat” taught him resilience, adaptability, and a love for people and places around the world. Josh was homeschooled, graduating in 2014 before attending the University of North Georgia as an ROTC cadet. There, his natural gift of leadership emerged as he excelled in the Ranger Challenge and started a Bible study that deeply impacted others.
Josh was commissioned into the Army and completed Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course in 2019 before a medical diagnosis unexpectedly ended his military career. Choosing hope over disappointment, he pursued a master’s degree in international relations at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, where he built cherished friendships and thrived during his time abroad. He loved learning, travel, sushi, good coffee, soccer, the writings of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, and above all, his family and friends.
After a 2021 surgery left him with severe chronic pain, Josh fought courageously for recovery with strength and tenacity. He passed away in September 2023.
Josh is remembered as kind, thoughtful, curious, and deeply compassionate. He went out of his way to help others feel validated and seen. His dream was to stand for wisdom, beauty, and the creativity of the human soul. He longed to use the advantages he had to serve others, especially those whose voices were underrepresented on the world stage.
